High positions in home track!

18.05.2025

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog post! This weekend, I have raced in the Midsweden Race Weekend, in Mittsvergiebanan which is my home track and my main sponsors track. We had practice all friday, Race 1 & 2 in saturday, and the final race in sunday. The weekend was intense, with many overtaking and pushing around, but it is the beauty of Aquila Formula 1000 and a-lot of the drivers were hungry to make good results in the races. But now, lets begin the summary from Practice-to-Race 3.

Practice

Even before the actual races started, the practice was intense. Many drivers tried to take the corners hard and fast, and while most succeeded, some have failed. Like me for example. I tried to go around the 90 degree right hander after the small chicane and I ended up spinning and digging myself into the sand. However, the practice showed me that with a little more practice and technique fixing, I could (possibly) rival the top 5.

Qualifications

Qualifications was great, scoring P9. I still couldn't find the pace and lost .7 seconds off my practice time, which pushed me down to 9th. The track also didn't have long straights so slipstreaming was kind of useless. Overall, the Qualifications could've been better in my opinion.

Race 1

Race 1 was quite eventful to say the least. I had some good fights with William Isaksson (Thanks for the rough defense >:C ), and he was defending very hard, managing to keep me down to 9th, away from a potential P8. This race was one of the best if not, The best race I have ever took in Aquila Formula 1000. I was still experiencing difficulty with technique and understeer, which hopefully, now we will fix in the next race weekend.

Race 2

Race 2 was the most intense race I had. In the first 3 minutes of the race, I already spun out, but because I don't take s̷̺̫͕̗̎́̚k̷̛̘̮̝̝͉̆̌͗̐͘͝i̷̡̟̰̞̽̈̈́̌͑͛̕l̵̬̯͇̱͋̇͌̅̃͝ ̶̨͉̳̗̒͗̂̀͌͜i̷͙̝̰̔͆̏̀͗͝s̴̡̩̮̫͔̰̄̔̾̈́̈́͐̏s̵̥͇̻̳̬̩̈́͌̑̿͜͠ų̶̡̼̝͉̜̠̓̆̈́̕ĕ̷͖̘̦̇͝, so lightly, I decided to make a come back and overtake the 4 cars that have overtook me. William Isaksson was the most difficult of the 4 as he was constantly defending very hard, even against my slowly-increasing aggressive overtake style, he retaliated and managed to push me around too, creating what most people would call, the most fun battle of the weekend. I managed to overtake him and maintain a gap for about 1 lap before he overtook me, but, in that very lap, luck was on my side and a red flag was released due to Albin Gustafson being stuck on the track after the engine was b̷͖̪̜̅l̸̢̞̮̪̩͎̎́ö̴̠̯̖̲́̕͝ẇ̶̛̛͙̝̃́̒͝n̴̨͎̥͑̎̚. Due to this, the race was finished and the results were taken 1 lap back, the same lap, which I was ahead of William and ended up in P6.

Race 3

Race 3 was just as intense. I kept up with the top 5 for about 30% of the race and was following Fredrik Lindholm for most of the race but then a safety car was released because Agnes Varland spun out and couldn't start her engine from a bad battery. The safety car lasted about 2-3 laps before the race continued in green flag conditions. In the same 90 degree corner I spun out in practice, Fredrick Lindholm had a bad line and speed out on the exit and allowed me to pass him cleanly in the långa-rakan. However, Fredrik was just as stubborn as William and in the last lap, he did a "Last Lap, Last Corner" all-or-nothing move and successfully overtook me for P6, which I lasted down to P7. Fredrik really put up a good fight...

Overall

The racing was extremely tight, and challenging, but I could've not made a consistent top 10 if it wasn't for my coach, Elias Adestam, who still continues to support me, Fredrik, and William Isakson on our road to the top! Thanks to Elias, I managed to keep finding the limits and find where I am terrible at. And thankfully, he managed to spot some of my mistakes which I keep making and I'll improve on those mistakes on the next race weekend in the Gelleråsloppet. However, building up on the overall, I will now begin the Driver Of The Weekend!

Driver Of The Weekend

DOTW Overall: Linus Stjernelund! He managed to climb the final step to take his first victory in the first race, here in Mittsvergiebanan. He managed to stay in the podium in Mantorp, and now here he is, fighting like a champ and succeeding, gaining his first win in one of the most technical tracks in sweden! Congrats Linus, and hopefully, we'll see great results from you!
DOTW Junior: William Isakson! While managing to stay consistent and clean, he managed to put up a great defense throughout the whole race weekend. He defended hard against incoming drivers, and even some aggressive ones like me. He knows how to put pressure on the drivers and never broke down! Nice job William, and hopefully, we'll have more exciting races like this weekend!
DOTW Rookie: Marcus Papp! He was making many mistakes during the race weekend, but one thing I have come to see in him was that from those mistakes, comes massive improvement! He raced well, and while he sometimes over do it, he most certainly knows when and where to overtake! Marcus also improved steadily throughout the whole weekend, going from 1 minute and 11 seconds down to a flat 1:08. So, great job Marcus, and hopefully, we will fight each other again, very soon!
